34th Army Band
The 34th Army Band proudly holds the distinction of being Iowa’s only official military band, representing the Iowa National Guard through performances at schools, community events, and military ceremonies across the state. The adoption of the Army’s new modular band structure has allowed the organization to expand beyond its traditional role as a concert band and marching band. The modern 34th Army Band also includes a rock band, a brass band, and a woodwind quintet, with the possibility of reorganizing into other configurations as needs arise. The 34th Army Band’s typical annual schedule includes a week-long tour of Iowa high schools, as well as a series of summer performances throughout the state.

Requesting a 34th Army Band Performance
If you would like us to visit your community or your school, please begin by filling out the DD Form 2536 Request for Armed Forces Participation and submitting it via email to ng.ia.iaarng.mbx.34th-army-band@army.mil or through postal mail to the above address. Email or call our full-time office staff with any questions.
As citizen-soldiers, members of the 34th Army Band are honored to live, work, and serve in the great State of Iowa. Unfortunately, our availability is limited, and we receive far more requests each year than we are able to fulfill. If your request is declined, please try again in the future.
Please note that Army Regulation 220-90, prohibits the band from participating in events that:
- Selectively benefit or appear to benefit any person, group, or corporation.
- Are clearly and primarily designed to stimulate sales or increase commercial business.
The 34th Army Band Commander, in coordination with the Iowa National Guard’s Office of Public Affairs, will determine the appropriateness of each request.
