Brigadier General (BG) William F. McClintock is Deputy Adjutant General and currently serves as the full time Chief of Staff for the Iowa Army National Guard. He was previously assigned as the Director of Human Resources for Iowa of both the Army and Air National Guard. A native of Iowa, BG McClintock graduated and received his commission from the Officer Candidate School Program, Iowa Military Academy, Camp Dodge Joint Maneuver Training Center, in Johnston, Iowa.
BG McClintock’s military assignments include Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, Company Commander, Battalion Operations Officer, Battalion Commander, and Troop Commander. He is a Joint Qualified Officer who served three years in an Operational Assignment at United States Northern Command, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
BG McClintock’s education includes both a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and a Master’s in Business Administration from Upper Iowa University in Fayetteville, Iowa. He also holds a second Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters; Army Commendation Medal with silver cluster and two bronze oak leaf clusters; Army Achievement Medal with four bronze oak leaf cluster; National Defense Service Medal with one bronze service star; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with two bronze service stars; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Humanitarian Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon. He is authorized to wear the Recruiting and Retention Badge, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Eisenhower Superior Unit Award.
BG McClintock and his wife Sara reside in Ankeny, Iowa with their four children, Cole, Carter, Mya, and Ruby.
