The registration fee is $40 per person.
There are grass areas as well as parking lots located within walking distance to the start line. Military personnel will be directing traffic.
Visitors can enter Camp Dodge for the event through either the main gate at 7105 NW 70th Ave., Johnston or the historic East Gate at 7700 NW Beaver Drive, Johnston. Photo identification is required for individuals 16 years of age and older; a driver’s license is acceptable.
Porta-potties will be available on each mile of the race.
Both the start and finish line will be next to the historic pool pavilion on Camp Dodge.
This is a physically demanding event with a 10K trail run through beautiful Camp Dodge. Participants should be prepared to finish the race in 2 hours. Participants can stop along obstacles, take in the scene and immerse themselves in the unique experience.
Throughout the course, runners will navigate military simulations that no other trail run offers. The Iowa National Guard Trench Run 10K will include; trenches, smoke, pyrotechnics, blank fire, military vehicles, fire trucks, streams, and the possibility of an occasional helicopter fly by.
All participants should be prepared to traverse water and muddy obstacles.
Water stations are positioned throughout the course. Snacks and beverages will also be available at the end of the race.
There will be roving medical personnel throughout the course to assist participants who become fatigued or injured. Each obstacle will also be operated by Iowa National Guard service members which are available to assist in medical emergencies.

In past years, the Iowa National Guard allowed high school sports teams to sign-up for free. This policy has changed, and we are no longer able to allow free participation.
Race results will be provided online at the Trench Run website.

No, the Iowa National Guard sets the price for this race to equal the race expenses.
ALL motorcyclists (drivers and passengers) on Camp Dodge are required by Department of Defense policy to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) consisting of helmet, eye protection (full-face shield or goggles or sunglasses), gloves, long pants, long-sleeved shirt or jacket, and over-the-ankle footwear while operating on Camp Dodge. Motorcyclists without the required PPE may park their motorcycles at the NW Beaver Drive gate turnaround and walk to the pool complex (approximately three blocks).
